Organizing and Engaging Youth in RPE

Organizing and Engaging Youth in RPE

Purpose: This web conference will provide information regarding working with Youth in RPE programs, based on strategies from the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence’s Creating Meaningful Access for Underserved Youth in Rural Communities booklet released in February 2020. Topics will include community collaboration, leveraging youth voice for social change, practicing intergenerational approaches, interrupting adultism, and working in multi-cultural environments. The web conference will highlight the use of digital organizing and storytelling as strategies for increased engagement and retention based on data from a year of experiential learning in partnership with Idaho youth organizers and leaders.

Objectives: Participants will be able to:

  1. Identify strategies for working with youth, particularly in underserved communities, including rural communities.
  2. Describe the essentials of youth collaboration including engagement, retention, and mobilization efforts.
  3. Identify different program strategies for RPE youth leaders including storytelling and digital organizing.
